After numerous requests, Michael has added the following

new options to his school tours.

You may pick Two Options below. The total booking time slot is 2.5 hrs for you to utilise.

The first half of the presentation places emphasis on Growth, Determination, Initiative, Resilience, Courage, Attitude, Being True to Yourself and Perseverance. These attributes have played a major part in maintaining Michael’s 30 year career. The session is accompanied with relative footage.

Michael also talks about performance anxiety, nerves and how it effects him, he also shares some tips on this topic.

The 2nd Half is filled with back scene’s footage and prep work while on ‘The Voice’. This always creates a talking point amongst the students.

SESSION DETAILS

Q&A Session Duration – The session runs for 80 minutes. This may go overtime depending on how many questions are asked by the students throughout the presentation.

Number of Students – There is no limit on how many students can attend this event. Michael has conducted Q&A sessions to 1000 students in an auditorium and has also presented to 3 students in a classroom. The Q&A session is aimed at all students in Secondary School.

Guitar Master Class – This is a great opportunity for your students to have an up-close lesson with one of Australia’s premier guitarists. The Guitar Masterclass is a hands-on practical lesson. This class is open to 10 of your most dedicated players of your choosing.This class runs for 60 minutes.

Michael’s approach and teaching style is bespoke for each school and is catered for intermediate to advance players.

Michael’s Masterclass is focused on improvisation, chord knowledge and creating the right approach for a solo. As this will be Michael’s 2nd visit to your school, unless specified, he’ll be continuing on from the first Masterclass topic.

Michael’s approach and teaching style is bespoke for each school and is catered for intermediate to advance players.

Masterclass duration 60 minutes.

This is a great opportunity for students to perform a song in front of Michael. He will then mentor and work closely with each band member placing emphasis on the following,

The Band and Performance Mentoring can either be with an audience or just with each individual band.

In addition to being a live performer, Michael has established a strong reputation as a studio guitarist. He’s had the pleasure of playing on countless recordings for radio and TV, bringing his total of released playing credits to 4000. He will be offering years of techniques and secrets that he utilises in the studio. This will give each student an insight into the world of studio playing in your school recording studio.

‘Listening to Students Recordings’

A great opportunity for students to share their recordings and have Michael give advice on how to take their songs to the next level.

‘Unraveling the Mystery of Cloning a Guitar Tone’

This aural/practical session gives the students a hands on opportunity and understanding on how to create iconic guitar tones. The session is accompanied with relative footage that coincides with examples from players of our time. Michael will then demonstrate the type of amps and guitars that were used to create these iconic tones throughout the following era’s.

Modern approach and comparing tones from earlier era’s

All students will work together as a team in conjunction with Michael offering their thoughts and ideas towards cloning these guitar tones. Michael will bring his “Fractal Audio FM3” studio amp simulation device. The FM3 is a world class unit aimed at the modern day approach for recording guitars.

‘The Session Guitarist experience’

This gives 2 of your most proficient guitarists an opportunity and experience to be the session guitarist for the day. Four weeks prior to Michael’s arrival the 2 students will each be assigned a 90sec version of an iconic song. They will be asked to learn the song, focusing on the guitar parts ready for a session. During the session the students will be asked to create the right guitar tone utilising the technics and aural examples from our ‘Unraveling the mystery of Guitar tones‘ topic. They will then record their guitar parts to a backing track which Michael will supply on the day.

From this point the student will be mentored in front of their class members. This will give each player and every student an insight to getting the most out of a studio performance and creating the right tone for the song.

‘Being the creative Guitarist – Thinking outside the box’

In this topic Michael will pick a student who will be asked to create a guitar part and guitar tone to suit the style of the backing track that Michael will supply on the day. This will give the student a true experience of being put on the spot and thinking outside of the box to be creative.
